Hampi Chariot on Commemorative Stamp

Stone Chariot is considered one of the most popular attractions of Hampi. This archaeological marvel; is located within the Vittala Temple complex, central Karnataka. The chariot is a shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Chariot is considered as a vehicle of Lord Vishnu.The Stone Chariot of Hampi is Build with the Dravidian style. The Stone Chariot includes two giant wheels and two elephants. The two elephants are seen pulling the chariot. Chariot also includes multiple smaller stones assembled to perfection.
The Stone Chariot was built by king Krishnadevaya; the emperor of the Vijaynagar Empire during the 16th Century. It said that king Krishnadevaya got impressed with the Sun Temple of Konark during the Kalinga war and created the similar one in Hampi.
