Muhammad Yusuf Shah was the ruler of the Kashmir Sultanate; he sat on the throne of the Kashmir Sultanate in the year 1597 CE and ruled it until 1586 CE. During his rule, he tried to maintain peace, prosperity, and harmony in Kashmir Sultanate.After sitting on the throne of the Kashmir Sultanate, Muhammad Yusuf Shah issued coins in all three metals gold, silver, and copper in the denomination like Mohur, Sasnu, and Kaserah.
This silver Sasnu that weighs around 6.09g was issued by Muhammad Yusuf Shah during his rule in Kashmir Sultanate. He issued this coin from the mint Kashmir in the Hijri year 987. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Nasir Al-Din Muhammad Yusuf Badshah Gazi’. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Zar Kashmir Sanah 987’.
