India-Republic of Korea Joint Issue is a set of two Stamps issued by India Post and South Korean Post. In 1962, bilateral relations between India and the Republic of Korea (RoK) were established. To honor the relationship both countries issued a set of two stamps in collaboration.Historical and cultural contacts between the two peoples date back to ancient times. According to the "SamyukYusa" (or the Heritage History of the Three Kingdoms") written in the 13th Century, a Princess from Ayodhya (known as Princess Suriratna) came to Korea, married King Kim-Suro, and became Queen Hur Hwang-ok in the year 48 AD.
The 16-Year old princess sailed across the ocean under the orders of the King of the "Ayuda" Kingdom on a vessel that carried the Pasa Stone Pagoda, which is said to have calmed the high seas.
India issued stamps with the denomination of Rs.5 and the stamps of South Korea worth 380 South Korean won. The stamps depict the Indian princes praying in front of the stone pagoda in one stamp while the other depicts Queen Heo clad in traditional consumption of the country.
