The Chutus dynasty was an Indian dynasty that ruled the part of the Deccan region of South India between the first and third century CE. They rose to the power as Satavahana feudatories and assumed sovereignty after the decline of the Satavahana power. The Capital of Chutus was present-day Karnataka state. The Chutus ruled Banavasi, the ancient oldest city of Karnataka for a period of two centuries before Mayurasarman made Banavasi the capital of the Kadamba dynasty in AD345.

This copper coin that weighs around 6.83g was issued by king Chutukulanada of Chutus of Banvasi. The obverse of this coin depicts Eight arched hills and Brahmi legend “Rajno Chutukulanadasa” around. The reverse of this coin depicts Bold Tree in railing, Sharp bold strike. The copper coin was sold for INR 14000 in an auction of Oswal Antiques that was held in Mumbai on 1st August 2021.
