Traikutakas Silver Drachm Listed For INR 40,000

This silver drachm weighs around 1.88g; was issued by king Madhyamasena during his rule in Traikutakas. Traikutakas were the dynasty of the Indian king ruled between 388 CE and 456 CE. The name ‘Traikutakas’; is derived from; the word ‘Tri’ and ‘Kuta’, meaning three-peaked mountain.The Traikutakas dynasty ruled during the 4th century CE. They dominated the region of northern Konkan and the parts of Gujarat; earlier rule by Abhirasa. We can find reference to Traikutakas in an inscription of the Vakataka ruler Harisena who ruled in the 6th century CE.
The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of the king wearing a ribbed flat helmet facing towards the right. The reverse of this coin depicts a Three-arched hill in the center, flanked by dotted sun and crescent; Brahmi legend …Rama Vaishnava Maharaja Madhyamasena.
