Ellora is a series of magnificent rock-cut temples situated in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India. It contains one of the largest rock-cut Hindu temples cave complexes in the world. The temples present here feature Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jain monuments with artwork dating from 600-1000 CE period.

All the temples present here; was built during the Rashtrakuta and Yadava dynasty. There are around 34 caves, of which 12 are Buddhist, 17 are Hindu and, 5 are Jain. Caves made by the Rastrakuta dynasty are generally Hindu and, Buddhist caves and the caves made by the Yadava dynasty are generally Jain.

Funding for the construction of the monuments was provided by royals, traders, and the wealthy people of this region. The Ellora complex was designated; as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. It is celebrated for its Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain temples and monuments which were carved from the local cliff rock in the 6th to 8th-century CE.
