Titus Aelius Hadrianus Antoninus Pius was a Roman emperor; he ruled Roman Empire between 138 CE and 161 CE. Antoninus Pius, one of the Five Good Emperors, of Rome died. During his reign, Rome reached its peak of peace and prosperity.

Antoninus Pius was born in 86CE; in the Italian town of Lunuvium. He entered the Senate and took the usual career path of Roman leaders, moving from minor offices to the provincial governor. He got the title Pius meaning dutiful, from Senate, after sitting on the throne of the Roman Empire. His reign is notable for the peaceful state of the Empire, with no major revolts or military incursions during this time.

He died of illness in 161 and was succeeded by his adopted sons Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus as co-emperors.
