Former U.S President Ulysses S. Grant Died Today in 1885

On July 23, 1885, after completing his memoirs, the former U.S President died today due to throat cancer.Ulysses S. Grant served the United States of America as 18th president between 1869 and 1877. He also served in the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), before going on to a stellar military career during the Civil War.
He was an aggressive and determined leader during Civil War. During the war, he was in command of all U.S armies. Later, after the war, he became the national hero, and the Republicans nominated him for president in 1868.
