Golconda Fort is also known as Golkonda, it is located in the western part of Hyderabad city and is about 9 km from Hussain Sagar Lake. It is undoubtedly one of the most magnificent fortress complexes in India. This fort is mounted by the cannons, four drawbridges, eight gateways, and majestic halls, magazines, stables, etc.Golconda is also known for this region of diamond mines, especially the Kollur Mine, Golconda flourished a trade of large diamonds, also known as Golconda Diamonds. The region also produced some of the world’s most famous diamonds that also include famous Kohinoor (now in the UK), the blue hope (United States), the pink Daria-i-Noor (Iran), etc. Originally, the Golconda fort known as Mankal, built on a hilltop in the year 1143. It was originally a mud fort under the reign of Rajah of Warangal.
