Diamond Shaped Coin Released by The Helvetic Mint

The Helvetic Mint has released 3-dimensional .999 fine silver $2 Diamond coins coin for the island country of Niue using the latest technology on June 6th.The coin has 32 facets on top and 24 at the bottom along with the “table” featuring the common portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. A real diamond is also attached to the coin. A lower facet of the coin bears a lasered serial number which is also replicated on the certificate of authenticity. The mintage of these lovely coins is limited to 222 pieces only. To give the coins a smooth satiny look, a special undisclosed substance was used.
Officials have stated that it took 6 months to meet the technical challenges in issuing a unique coin like this one. They revealed that a slow increase in the striking pressure was required to develop the sharp edges of this diamond shaped coin that is made of a single piece of silver. The number of collars used to strike the coin is still a technical secret.
