The battle of Kanauj was fought between Mughal Emperor Sher Shah Suri and Afghan king Sher Shah Suri. This battle was fought in Kanauj, a place located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on 17th May 1540. Before the Battle of Kanauj, both Humayun and Sher Shah Suri got involved in the Battle of Chausa.

After losing the Battle of Chausa Humayun had no army left so he tried to gather all the support from his brothers Kamran Mirza denied supporting Humayun, but Hindal Mirza agreed to support Humayun.

Humayun knew what Sher Shah Suri and his army are very powerful and it is not easy to defeat Sher Shah Suri. Humayun was kind and generous, but he was not a good general and warrior.
