This gold mohur issued by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan is listed for INR 70,000 in the upcoming electronic auction of Todywalla that will be held on 16th May 2021. This gold mohur minted in Daulatabad, a village near Aurangabad Maharashtra, weighs around 10.93g was issued in the Hijri Year 1047.

Shah Jahan was the fifth Mughal Emperor of India. He was one of the greatest rulers of the Mughal Empire. He was born as Prince Khurram to the Mughal Emperor Jahangir in the year 1592 CE. He is best known for ‘Taj Mahal’ which he built in the memory of his beloved wife ‘Mumtaz Mahal’. Another one of his famous creations is the Peacock Throne. His reign is also described as the ‘Golden Age of the Mughal Empire.

The obverse of this gold mohur is inscribed with the name and title of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the Kalima.
