Minnesota is one of the states of the United States of America; it is situated in the upper Midwestern United States. It is popularly known as the land of 10,000 Lakes. The word Minnesota comes from the Dakota language, Mni Sota which means ‘Clear Blue Water’ or cloudy water.Minnesota is the 12th state by its area and 22nd most populous state of the United States of America. More than half of the residence of Minnesota live in Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area, popularly known as ‘Twin Cities’. This state is the center of transportation, business, industry, education, and government while being home to an internationally known arts community.
This commemorative stamp was issued by the United States of America in the year 1976 to commemorate this state.
