The Democratic Republic of Congo was historically known as ‘Zaire’. It is situated in central sub-Saharan Africa, bordered to the northwest by the Republic of the Congo, to the north by the Central African Republic, to the northeast by South Sudan, to the east by Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi, and by Tanzania, to the south and southeast by Zambia, to the southwest by Angola, and to the west by the South Atlantic Ocean and the Cabinda Province exclave of Angola.

Central Bank of Congo [Banque Centrale du Congo] issued a 50 Francs banknote featuring one of the unique specialty of the country. The Congolese franc is the currency of the Democratic Republic of the Congo that is subdivided into 100 centimes.

The obverse of the banknote features, “Tshokwe mask of Mwana Pwo” and its backside features Fishermen's village along the Congo River. You can also find the watermark of a Single Okapi head or multiple Okapi heads repeated vertically.
