Muizz Al-Din Kaiqubad Gold Tanka Listed For INR 80,000

This gold tanka that weighs around 10.93g was issued by king Muizz Al-Din Kaiqubad of Delhi Sultanate. This gold tanka was minted in Hadrat Delhi with the ‘Al-Imam’ legend. This gold tanka is listed for INR 80,000 in the upcoming electronic auction of Todywalla that will be held on 16th May 2021.Sultan of Muizz Al-Din Kaiqubad was the ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. He ruled the Delhi Sultanate from 1287 CE to 1290 CE. After sitting on the throne of Delhi Sultanate he issued coins in gold, silver, and copper. Gold and silver coins issued by him were minted in Hadrat Delhi. Silver coins issued by him like One-Third, One-Sixth, and One-Twelfth Tanka are rare. In billon coin, he issued only three-gani bilingual coin.
The obverse of this gold tanka depicts the legend ‘As Sultan Al Azam Muizz Al Dunya Wa Al-din Abul Muzaffar Kaiqubad As Sultan’. The reverse of a coin inscribed with ‘al-Imam al-Musta'asim Amir al-Mumineen’; with the date and mint details in the margin.
