Louisiana is a constituent state of the United States of America situated in the Deep South and South Central region. The capital of this state is Baton Rouge and the largest city of this state is New Orleans. It is the 19th-smallest by area and the 25th most populous of the 50 U.S. states. State Louisiana is bordered by the state of Texas to the west, Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. It is the only state in the United States with a political subdivision, which is equivalent to counties.

There are three types of regions found in Louisiana: Lowlands, Terraces, and Hills. The Lowlands area is consists of coastal marshes and the Mississippi floodplain, with natural levees and moderate relief. The Terraces are the region consist much of prairies of South-western Louisiana. Hills flank the Red River Valley and lend contour to the northern portion of the Florida Parishes. It consists of the highest point in Driskill Mountain in north-western Louisiana.
