National Heroes Day in Barbados is celebrated annually on April 28. It honors the designees of the Order of National Heroes Act that was passed in 1998.

Barbadian National Heroes are ten people who are considered the major figures in the country's history. They are styled by “The Right Excellent”. The list of Barbadian National Heroes includes people who belong to the different faculties and have contributed widely to nation-building.

The first Barbadian National Heroes Day was celebrated on April 28, 1998, to mark the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Sir Grantley Herbert Adams. The Central Bank of Barbados issued Barbadian Dollar banknotes in 7 different denominations, including a100 Barbados dollars banknote which was issued in the honor of Sir Grantley Herbert Adams.

Barbados’ highest value banknote is the 100 dollars bill, which features the portrait of Grantley Herbert Adams CMG, QC. On the backside of the one hundred dollars bill is the airport named after Adams, Grantley Adams International Airport in Christ Church.
