Finnish Mint issued a special commemorative coin in the year 2008 which has a heart-touching depiction. The coin was issued to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 and aims at fundamental human rights to be universally protected.

The commemorative Finnish coin issued to celebrate the occasion is a 2 Euros bimetallic coin designed by sculptor Tapio Kettunen. The coin depicts a human being inside a heart and, underneath it, the inscription ‘HUMAN RIGHTS’. ‘FI’ for Finland, ‘K’ for the sculptor as well as the mintmark appears at the bottom of the inner part of the coin, and the year of issue, 2008, at the top. The 12 stars of the European Union are shown on the outer ring.

The other side of the coin depicts a map showing the European continent without borders next to the face value.
