Brasilia is the federal capital of Brazil; it is located at the top of the Brazilian highlands in the country's centre-western region. The basic structure of Brasilia was completed within four years between 1956 and 1960. It was founder by the presidentship of Juscelino Kubitschek. City Brasilia was developed by LĂșcio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer and Joaquim Cardozo in 1956 in a scheme to move the capital from Rio de Janeiro to a more central location. To carry out the specified activities the city is divided into numerous blocks and sectors.
The city is designed in the shape of a giant bird and aeroplane, specific and separated zone are created for specific functions such as housing, commerce, hospitals and banking. Running down the centre of the "aeroplane's" fuselage is the thoroughfare called the Eixo Monumental ("Monumental Axis") and at one end laid the government buildings.
