Ganga Singh Gold mohur Listed for INR 70,000

This gold mohur issued by Ganga Singh of Princely State Bikaner is listed for IRN 70,000 in the upcoming electronic auction of Todywalla that will be held on 18th April 2021.

Bikaner was a Princely State during the British rule in India from 1465 to 1947. Today it is located in the Indian state of Rajasthan. This state was ruled by the royal lineage of Rathore Rajputs. State Bikaner was established by RaoBikaji between 1465 and 1504 AD. But like all other Kingdom Bikaner also came under British rule in 1817 AD. Bikaner came under British influence in the year CE 1817 and in 1947 it was incorporated into the modern state of Rajasthan after independence.

The obverse of this coin depicts the bust of the king in the centre and the Devanagari legend ‘Maharajadhiraja Sri Gangasinghji Bahadur’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with the Devanagari legend ‘Rajshri 1 Mohur Ganga Shahi Bikaner’ Rajashri written at the top and ‘Bikaner’ written at the bottom.
