The Battle of Liegnitz is also known as the Battle of Legnica or the Battle of Wahistatt; this battle was fought between; Mongal Empire and combined European force. It took place at the village of Legnickie Pole southeast of the city of Legnica in the Duchy of Silesia on 9 April 1241.

On April 9, 1241, Duke Henry II of Silesia marched out of the city of Liegnitz to the Mongols, as they were called by the Europeans. This battle was won by the Mongols at the Battle of Kalka River. After the Battle, the Mongols claim Cumans as their subjects and used these events as a cause to invade Europe. The Mongols got great success in seizing the cities of Germany and Poland.

The Commemorate stamp of Battle of Leignitz was issued by Germany in the year 2002.
