Kacha Gupta Gold Dinar Listed For INR 1,75,000

Kacha Gupta was the king of the Gupta Dynasty, he is well known from the gold dated to the early Gupta period. There are different theories related to the Kacha Gupta; some theories state that Kacha Gupta was the same as Samudragupta and some theories state Samudragupta and Kacha Gupta were brothers.This gold dinar that weighs around 7.57g was issued by Kacha Gupta during his rule in the Gupta dynasty. The obverse of this coin depicts “king standing to left, holding a Chakra standard in his left hand, Brahmi legend in the right field “Kacho Gamavijitya Divam Karmabhiruttamair Jayati”. The reverse of this coin depicts "Goddess Lakshmi standing to left holding a cornucopia with Brahmi legend “Sarvarajochchhetta”.
This gold dinar is listed for INR 1,75,000 in an upcoming auction of Oswal Antiques that will be held in Mumbai on 26th April 2021.
