Battle of Zacatecas

Battle of Zacatecas is also known as Toma de Zacatecas, it was one of the key engagements of the Mexican Revolution. It is considered one of the largest and bloodiest battles of the Mexican Revolution. It took place on June 23, 1914, to overthrow Mexican President Victoriano Huerta. When Victoriano Huert removed Francisco Madero, from power and ordered his execution, his presidency was seized. Because the rest of the major players like Pancho Villa, Emiliano Zapata, Alvaro Obregón, and Venustiano Carranza, aligned together and weaken his power.

In June 1914, Victoriano Huerta sent his massive force to hold the town of Zacatecas from the relentless advance of Pancho Villa, Division of the North. In June 1914, the city of Zacatecas became the centre of national attention when Pancho Villa and his Dorados stormed the city to clash with Spanish forces commanded by General Victoriano Huerta.
