Khanwa is the name of a village situated in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan. Today, it is a historical site known for historical battles in the history of North India.
In 1526, after defeating Ibrahim Lodi in the Battle of Panipat, Babur sat on the throne of Delhi and founded the Mughal Empire in India. Now, to set his footprints in India, he had to fight two of his other enemies, these two enemies were, the Afghan nobles of Bihar and Bengal, and the other was the Rajputs under Rana Sangha of Mewar.
Both Rana Sangha and Babur were very ambitious, both wanted to capture entire India and become the supreme power. They both clashed in the Battle of Khanwa fought on 16th March 1527. Babur defeated Rana Sangha and made his hold on Indians stronger. Later, Babur also conquered the forts of Gwalior, Dholpur, and East of Agra.
