William Howard Taft Commemorative Stamp

2021-03-11 Thu

William Howard Taft was the 27th President of the United States of America from 1909 to 1913. He had also served the United States as the tenth Chief Justice of the United States from 1921 to 1930 and was the only person to have held both the office.

William Howard Taft was elected as a president in 1908, the chosen successor of Theodore Roosevelt. Later in the year 1912, he was defeated in re-election by Woodrow Wilson, when Roosevelt split the Republican vote by running the third party. In 1921, President Warren G. Harding appointed Taft to be chief justice, a position he held until a month before his death.

This commemorative stamp was issued by the United States of America to commemorate him in the year 1938.
