An extremely rare Saxon gold coin, which was discovered near a Wiltshire village in East Grafton, was sold for £21,600. It dates back to the dawn of Christianity and seems to have been struck in present-day France. Experts suggest it was circulated just after the burial of King Raedwald at Sutton Hoo around 625 CE. The obverse depicts a head motif with a cross next to it. Only 5 specimens of this type are known. The coin is currently in possession of the Wiltshire Museum.
