Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, well known as Fidel Castro was the Prime Minister of Cuba between 1959 and 1976. He had also served Cuba as President from 1976 to 2008. Fidel Castro is considered to be one of the most extraordinary political figures of Cuba in the 20th Century. When he was the Prime Minister of Cuba he successfully transformed the island country into the Western Hemisphere's first-ever communist state.

Fidel Castro followed the ideology of Marxist –Leninist and Cuban nationalist; he also served Cuba as First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba from 1961 until 2011. Under his administration, Cuba became a one-party communist state; industry and business were nationalized, and state socialist reforms were implemented throughout society.
