Cancer Research To Be Funded by the Sale of Pink Commemorative Coins

For the noble cause of promoting breast cancer awareness and funding cancer research activities, new pink commemorative coins will be issued by the U.S.The coin will be released in 2018 and the designs will be selected through a public contest. President Barack Obama signed the special legislation last month that facilitated launch of a set of three new coins aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness.
50,000 pink-gold $5 coins will be minted by the U.S Mint using at least 75 percent gold. 400,000 $1 silver coins and 750,000 half dollar coins are the other ones in the series.
$35 from each pink-gold coin, $10 from each silver coin and $5 from each half-dollar coin will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
About one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, and officials believe that research can help find a better cure for this dangerous health condition.
