Sikandar Jah was the third Nizam of Hyderabad; he ruled Hyderabad from 1803 to 1829 AD. He was born in Chowmahalla Palace in the Khilwath, he was the second son of Asaf Jah II and Tahniat un-Nisa Begum.During his rule, he struck coins in all three metals gold, silver, and copper from the Hyderabad mint. When Sikandar Jah sat on the throne of Hyderabad, the British Cantonment was established near Hyderabad and this area was christened as him as Secunderabad. The Secunderabad is also called as Sikandarabad. The Sikandarabad is a twin city of Hyderabad in the Indian States of Telangana. The city is named after its ruler Sikandar Jah.
This silver rupee was issued by Sikandar Shah during his rule in Hyderabad, he issued this coin in the name of Mughal Emperor Muhammad Akbar II. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Mughal Emperor Muhammad Akbar II. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name Farkhanda Bunyad Hyderabad, with the additional mint name Amravati.
