This gold mohur issued by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb is listed for INR 1,25,000 in the upcoming auction of Oswal Antiques which will be held in Ahmadabad on 8th February 2020.
The full name of Emperor Aurangzeb was Abul Muzaffar Muhi-ud-Din Muhammad Aurangzeb. He was the sixth Mughal Emperor of India. His reign lasted for almost half a century (from 1658 to 1707). His reign was marked by several conquests and the vast expansion of the Mughal Empire and subsequent fall of the empire.
The obverse of this gold mohur is inscribed as ‘Sikka Zad Dar Jahan Chu Mihr-e-Munir Badshah Aurangzeb Alamgir with AH Date 1097. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘ Julus Formula, RY and Mint Name with epithet Dar-ul-Zafar Bijapur’.
