Great Britain gets its first women Prime Minister

And where there is despair, may we bring hope.”Margaret Thatcher became the first women Prime Minister of Great Britain on 4th May 1979. She was the served as the British Prime Minister for the longest period of time and is still to date the only woman to have held the office.
Her strong and uncompromising political and leadership skills led her to be nicknamed as the “Iron Lady” and her implemented policies came to be known as ‘Thatcherism’. Her governments increased home ownership and restructured the UK economy. The 1982 Falklands War was fought under her governance.
In 2014, Royal Mail released set of special stamps featuring Prime Ministers from the last 200 years. One of this First class stamps feature Margaret Thatcher.
Many countries of the Commonwealth have stamp[s featuring this Iron Lady of Britain. Guinea Republic, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Liberia, Ghana, Falkland Islands, St. Helena and many more countries have issued miniature sheets, sheetlet, and stamps commemorating Baroness Thatcher.
