2011 Native American One Dollar Coin
2019-10-07 Mon
The obverse of this coin depicts the central figure of ‘Sacagawea’ design first produced in 2000.The United States of America had issued this commemorative $1 with the theme of the Wampanoag Treaty of 1621 which Creates Alliance with Settlers at Plymouth Bay. This treaty was led the English colonists and Massasoit and his men to join in a first harvest feast,” said Craig.
The 2011 Native American $1 Coins is marked as the third year in a series featuring annually changing reverse designs. However, all three coins have strikes which are a continuation of the Sacagawea Dollars that first were issued by the US Mint in 2000 but featured static on the reverse side of the coin.
The obverse side of the coin depicts the portrait of “Sacagawea” which is seen on these dollars since 2000. The reverse side of the coin depicts peace pipe being exchanged by the hands of Supreme Sachem Ousamequin Massasoit and Governor John Carver in 1621.
