UAE Unveils New Gandhi Stamp

To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, Emirates Post has issued a commemorative stamp to honor the life and times of India's most influential leader. Emirates Post is issuing a stamp as a celebration of the values Gandhi embodied and upheld during his lifetime.In December, a digital interactive museum showcasing the life, works and philosophy of Gandhi and the founder of modern UAE Shaikh Zayed was jointly inaugurated by the then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and her counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Gandhi-Zayed Digital Museum, which will promote peace, tolerance, and sustainability, is part of the celebrations by the two countries to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and centenary celebrations of the birth of Shaikh Zayed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan released postage stamps on Mahatma Gandhi to commemorate his 150th birth anniversary on 24th August 2019. The postage stamps were issued at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi during Prime Minister Modi's visit.
The souvenir sheet contains a block of with the denomination of 3 AED. The stamps depict the smiling portrait as well as the logo designed especially for the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
