Hathras is a city situated in the Hathras district in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. Hathras lies within the Braj region in Central or Middle Doab and is associated with the epic Mahabharata and Hindu theology. The Hathras is formerly known as Mahamaya Nagar.During the ancient period, there was the ancient fort in Hathras at the site of the ruins of the modern-day fort. We can also find traces of ancient Jain sculpture in Hathras.
This silver rupee which weighs around 11.07g was issued by Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II during 30th year of his reign. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king Shah Alam II. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the mint name Hathras.
