35 tonne of Foreign Coins to be Exchanged at Lord Venkateswara Temple

Since many years, more than 35,000 kg foreign coins have been accumulated at the Lord Venkateswara temple, offered as donations. Officials have revealed that these coins will be exchanged very soon with banks for Indian currency.The finance department of the temple will start separating the coins based on the denominations and countries. A written notification has been officially sent to the RBI. According to RBI’s advice, the temple authorities are in talks with several banks for exchanging the coins. Logistics responsibility and satisfactory exchange for the coins will be considered before going ahead with the exchange. Officials also mentioned that most of the coins are from Malaysia, Singapore and the US.
