16 Jul 2019  Tue

The “Lucky Bamboo” stamp of the USPS is issued on 17th January 2018 to celebrate the Year of the Dog which started on 16th July 2018.

Designed by Asian-American artist Kam Mak, this is the 11th special stamp in the 12-year series. The stamp does not only celebrate the new Dog year but also features a unique Asian Tradition i.e. Lucky Bamboo plant. Keeping lucky bamboo inside houses and business places is believed to bring happiness and prosperity.

It features an arrangement of lucky bamboo and a square of red paper with the Chinese character fu, meaning good fortune, rendered in calligraphy. The image of a dog – originally created as the cut-paper design is printed in the upper left corner of the stamp.
