The Cypriot Pound, also known as the ‘Lira’ was the currency of Cyprus. After the decimalisation of the pound, it was sub-divided into 100 cents. The Cypriot pound was replaced by the euro on 1 January 2008.
Today we are looking at a 50 cents banknote issued in 1984. This brown note has on its obverse a Cypriot woman wearing national dress; and Cyprus map outline. The reverse features the Yermasoyia Hydroelectric Dam project.
