2019-06-27 Thu
Cherrystone auction is going to hold the sale of ‘The New Amsterdam Collection’ that will take place on July 10. The highlight of this sale is the famous 1867 10c green Z.Grill stamp. It is considered as major philatelic rarity one for only five existing example available to collectors not seen since 1958. The impressive lot is being offered at that starting price of $650,000.Green Z. Grill rarity is probably the product of the short-lived chance encounter between sheets of 1c, 10c, and 15c and the Z Grill on the grilling machines before the device was refitted with another grill type. There are only six known copies of 1867 10c green Z.Grill one of which is in the Millar Collection.
