Ellis Island is the largest and the most popular immigration station of the United States of America. It was opened as an immigration station in the year 1892. Ellis Island is a place the families and individuals of the United States of America honored those family who made an arduous journey to the new life of America.

This Island was added to Statue of Liberty National Monument in the year 1965 by Presidential Proclamation and is administered by the National Park Service. And, today the Ellis Island Immigration Museum is part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument and is under the care of the National Parks Service.

The United States of America had issued a commemorative quarter coin with the theme of Ellis Island in the year 2017. The reverse of this coin depicts an immigrant family approaching Ellis Island with a mixture of hope and uncertainty. The hospital building can be seen in the background.
