The Malwa Sultanate, An independent late medieval kingdom was established by Dilawar Khan in 1392 AD with its capital at Dhar. Hisam Al-Din Hushang Shah ruled the Malwa Sultanate from 1405 to 1435 AD.
During the reign, he issued gold, silver, and copper coins in the denomination of Tanka and Falus. These coins were issued from Dar-ul-Mulk Shadiabad mint.
Depicted here is a gold Tanka issued during his reign in 837 AH. The obverse of a coin has Arabic legend ‘Al sultan al A'zam hisam al-Dunya wa'l din’ within double line square. The reverse of a coin has legend ‘Abu'l mujahid hushing Shah al sultan’ within a circle. Shahada and date depicted in the margin.
