Robert A Siegel auctioned a beautiful centred original-gum block of 90 cent 1869 pictorial issues from the Caspary and Lilly collection on the sale on 8th and 9th May 2019.the philatelic recordd claims that only three or four unused blocks of this issues in private hands. This auction provided a great opportunity to fetch this amazing specimen.
The bicolour 90cent 1869 pictorial issue was printed for separate plates of 100. The frame plate in Carmine and the portrait of Lincoln plate in black. This stamp was designed by a National Bank Co. Employee named E.Pitcher. The vignette was adapted from photographic portrait taken by C.S.Germen in 1861 and Mathew Brady in 1862.The auction claimed that this amazing stamp will fetch around 75,000 dollars.
