Marshall Islands and Liberia would be issuing souvenir sheets containing four se-tenant stamps on 19th and 29th June, respectively to celebrate the birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The announcement about these postal releases was made by Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corp. These would be the very first stamps to honour the royal baby.
One of the Marshall Islands stamps feature an engagement photo of Prince Harry and Meghan, the second one depicts a photo that was taken during their recent visit to Morocco. The other two stamps show pictures from the public presentation ceremony of the royal baby on 8th May at St. George’s Hall in Windsor Castle. All stamps from this souvenir sheet are denominated $2. Vintage illustration of Buckingham Palace is featured on the selvage. The souvenir sheet from Liberia contains only one stamp featuring Archie with his parents. All stamps from this sheet are denominated $400. A picture of Tower Bridge is shown on the selvage. IGPC Art Department designed and printed the stamps by offset lithography.
Archie was born at 5:26 a.m. on 6th May 2019. He is the seventh in line to the British throne. Journalists and media publications have stated that the half-American child of the royal family signifies that the monarchy has changed with changing times and has become more inclusive with a progressive outlook.
