Postage Stamp Commemorates 750th Birth Anniversary of Sri Vedanta Desikan

On 2nd May, the Vice President of India, Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu released a postage stamp to commemorate the 750th birth anniversary of Sri Vedanta Desikan in New Delhi. Mr. Naidu stressed on the fact that the younger generation needs to know about great spiritual icons like Sri Vedanta Desikan and also follow their path of humanism, peace and compassion.Sri Vedanta Desikan promoted Srivaishnava tradition. He has authored several intellectual poems, prose, drama, epics, commentaries, scientific texts and philosophical treatises in Sanskrit, Tamil, Prakrit and Manipravalam. He was also a scientist, logician, mathematician, literary genius, linguist, a military strategist and much more. He adopted a life of simplicity and service. He respected and accepted people from different castes and creeds.
Mr. Naidu expressed that it is very important to learn about the great personalities of our country so that we can imbibe their values and teachings. Several important delegates from the Government, Department of Posts and Sri Vedanta Desikan Manipaduka Indraprastha Trust had graced the event.
