Pennsylvania is one of the states of the United States of America. It is located in the north-eastern and Mid-Atlantic region of the United States of America. This state is also one of the original 13 colonies; it was founded by William Penn as a haven for his fellow Quakers. The capital of this state is Philadelphia, the site of first and second Continental Congress in 1774 and 1775. This state is 33rd largest state by its area and 6th most populous state of the United States of America.

The United States of America had issued a commemorative quarter dollar with the theme of the state Pennsylvania in the year 1999. This coin is the second coin released in the year 1999 and overall it is also a second coin to release in 50 States Quarters Program. The reverse of this coin features a statue, commonwealth with an outline map of state Pennsylvania, with the motto ‘VIRTUE, LIBERTY, INDEPENDENCE’.
