Casiodoro de Reina is one of the main figures of the Protestant Reformation in Spain. He fled the inquisition and undertook the massive work of translating this holy book into his mother tongue i.e. Spanish.
Created in the year 1569, Reina’s Bible is the first complete translation in the Spanish language. This holey and valuable book is known as the “Bear Bible”, as it has an image of a bear looking for money printed on its cover.
The stamp comes with the design where the author “Casiodoro” is portrayed along with the “Bear Bible” on a Dark background symbolizing the age. Reina’s Bible is one of the most-read and printed books in the history and hence, the stamp is a tribute not only to the author but also to the book.
