Abraham Lincoln was born on 12 February 1809 in Kentucky near Hodgenville. He was an American Lawyer and Politician; he had also served his country as 16th President of United States of America. He had also led the United States through its Civil War and its moral, constitutional, and political crisis. While doing his work he had also preserved the Union, abolished slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized the economy.This One Cent is the new design which was introduced in the year 1959; replacing the Indian Head Cent. It was produced with the motto ‘In God We Trust’. The obverse of this coin depicts the portrait of Abraham Lincoln facing towards the right; this was first produced in the year 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. The reverse of the coin depicts Lincoln memorial was selected to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth. This Lincoln memorial is a replacement of Wheat Ears design which was used on the reverse of Lincoln penny introduced in 1909. This design was used from 1959-2007.
