The Chinese Zodiac is known as Sheng Xiao; in this, all the twelve-year cycle is related to Chinese zodiac animal. These signs are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. It is calculated according to the Chinese lunar calendar. According to the Chinese myth the Jade Emperor ordered once that all the animals should come to wish him on his birthday party. He made the rule that all the animals should run across the river and each animal will be position in the zodiac by the order they arrived in this party. A dog is considered to have arrived in the 11th position in the party so he kept at 11th position in the zodiac sign.According to the Chinese astrology year 2018 is considered as Year of Dog. This is a Year of Earth Dog, which stats from Chinese New Year on Feb. 16 and end on Feb 4, 2019, which is a lunar new year’s eve.
A dog is considered as man’s good friend; he understands the human’s spirit and also obeys his master. In Chinese tradition; a dog is considered as the auspicious animal; if a dog comes in the house; it symbolizes the coming of fortune.
China had issued 10 Yuan commemorative coin has the image of the dog on its obverse.
