49,325 Liberty Gold Coins Sold!

On March 3rd, the U.S. Mint closed the windows for the sale of the high-relief 2015-W $100 American Liberty Gold Coin. They managed to sell a whopping 49,325 coins.Justin Kunz designed the obverse featuring features Lady Liberty and Phebe Hemphill sculpted it. The reverse design depicts The American eagle, designed by Paul C. Balin and sculpted by Don Everhart.
Statistics show that an average of 9 coins were sold per second in the first 10 minutes and by the fourth hour it topped to 35,000 coins. Since they are officially sold out now, prospective buyers of the gold coin will now have to look to the secondary market.
