Gold Mohur of Madho Singh II of Jaipur

This gold mohur was issued by Madho Singh II of Princely State Jaipur. Madho Singh II was a king of Jaipur, he is also known with the title ‘Maharajadhiraja Sawai Madho Singh II’. He was the adopted son of Ram Singh II. He ruled Jaipur from 1880 CE till 1922 CE.Madho Singh II was born as Kaim Singh to Thakur of Isardha who was petty chieftain to the ruling house of Jaipur. After the death of Madho Singh’s father, he was adopted by Ram Singh II in the year 1880 CE as the latter was not having any successor. Kaim Singh was crowned under the title Madho.
This gold mohur was issued by Madho Singh II in the name of Queen Victoria. The weight of the coin is around 10.8g. The obverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of Madho Singh II with regal year 38 and ‘Jhar’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with the name and title of Queen Victoria.
This gold mohur is listed for INR 35,000 in the upcoming online Auction of Oswal which will be held on 22nd July 2018.
