The first postal issue of the year 2000 features the first sunrise of the Millennium. India post issued a stamp depicting the first sunrise of the 21st century.The first sunrise of the new century hit the earth at Katchal - a small island in the Andaman Nicobar group in the Bay of Bengal. Katchal which was just a tiny dot in the world atlas suddenly became the tourist attraction.
The First Sunrise was captured and is now portrayed on this beautiful Rs.3 stamp of India. The stamp shows a quiet beach lined up with coconut trees and the bright sun emerging out of the blue water of the ocean.
